Our story

Founded in 2007 by Tamara Smith, Bottom Line Bookkeeping began with a simple idea: helping business owners understand their numbers so they can focus on what matters most - running their business. Tamara’s journey in accounting started back in 2000, when she landed an internship through her high school at a local kayak store. Working alongside a CPA, she quickly gained hands-on experience and was hired full-time immediately after graduation. As word spread and more people turned to her for bookkeeping help, what began as a side business gradually grew into something more. Starting from home, Tamara built Bottom Line Bookkeeping one client at a time, eventually opening an office in Bingen, WA in 2016 and welcoming her first employee to the team in 2018 as the business moved to Hood River, OR. In 2020, the expanding team settled into the historic First National Bank Building, where they continued to grow and support local businesses. By 2025, Bottom Line Bookkeeping had outgrown its space and moved into its current office at 106 3rd Street - another milestone in a journey built on experience, relationships, and a commitment to helping businesses build a stronger financial foundation.
